About Cite

Cite is a static, local tool for creating citations, footnotes, and bibliographies.

Project purpose

Cite helps prepare small and medium-sized bibliographies without a mandatory account. It separates source metadata from output appearance and uses validated CSL styles.

What works locally?

Manual forms, BibTeX, RIS, CSL-JSON and CSV imports, validation, duplicate detection, formatting, IndexedDB storage, and exports run in the browser.

What does the project not promise?

Cite is not a plagiarism detector, legal information system, or guarantee of compliance with every institution. Retrieved metadata must be checked.

Architecture

The project is static, has no PHP or application database, and is designed for DreamHost Shared Unlimited.
